i just got a new oscarthumbs2: he was with 4 inchers but he is only 3 inches. i want to get him company:l12: . my lfs has lake malawi cichlids but are only about 1.5-2 niches long.
can i get a smaller lake malawi chiclid or should i get another 3 inch oscar

What size tank will he be in?

55 for now all i want to know is if they'll get along well
can you tell me what type of chiclid it is one type is all bright yellow the other type is beige with subtile stripes they are both lake malawi chicklids

Red Zebra and Electric blue I think.

well actually they won't.
55g is not that big to keep them together with no risk. african cichlids will get hunted by oscar soon or late in my experience! even if the oscar is just a baby. http://qsmile.com/qsimages/89.gif

Let's please expand the repertoire of this conversation to include the well being of the animals. Fish getting along at a small size does not necessarily indicate long-term compatibility. Also, caring for a fish at a small size does not necessarily indicate the needs of the fish once they get larger.
Just trying to be helpful, not critical. You are getting a lot of fantastic information in this post and others. We hope you will take the advice being given for the welfare of the animals you are planning to keep.

I have two common cichlids in with my Oscar and they get along fine.
