I wish you the best of luck but dont get impatient can you include some specs on your tank and what you plan on doing as far as filtration.

wow Erik...that sounds like so much fun. I am guessing that you pretty well need to get like everything???
what all do you have already??? like the tank?????
keep us updated.
i am really excited for you.
P.S.
You should take pics on your process with setting up the tank.

I'll be sure take lots of pics of the whole process. So far i have the 10 gallon tank, heater, powerhead that will provide lots of current, and an ac30 for a filter. The lights will come at christmas so by the time its actually ready for corals and fish i will have that.

Gm, didn't you used to have a reef tank, or am I confusing you with someone else?

You know that in a small tank it will be harder to keep good water parameters right

yup im fully aware of that and think it be a fun challenge :)

just a quick tip, try to add all of your LR at once, if its cured you can add fish right away. it saves alot of stress!

my dad said we can go tomorrow and get everything, i just wondering whats the best way to transport the liverock? Will they give me something to put in or do i have to bring something?

I usually take a bucket and saltwater with me. You will get less die off, with less exposure to O2.

ok i guess thats what i'll do
And i just want to make sure i get everything i need so here's my shopping list for tomorrow:
~liverock
~hydrometer
~heater
~aragonite
~saltwater test kit
~bag of saltmix
I already have a filter and a powerhead and the lights will come later. This is all just to get the cycle going.
Am i missing anything? Do i need phosphate remover too?
coachfraley
12-09-2007, 01:51 AM
no, on the phosphate remover. Your list looks good for the cycle!
Can you go in 2 trips? I only say that because it might be good to mix your water, get your SG corrected and do a water test before adding the rock and sand.
If the store is far, don't worry about it.
Good luck!

well it's 25 minutes which isnt too bad but with holidays and my parents working with the bank to get a house, it's hard to find time right now. Im hoping that the people at my LFS can give me some premixed saltwater that i can use while i get the gravity of the new water right

That sounds like a good idea. That is too far for 2 trips.
