Does anyone know much about these gorgeous little fish? I got given one and he is simply hilarious, he hangs around my oscar and stands up to my jaguar and he's prob 1/2 the size!

I think the common name would be pearl cichlid.\
They can grow to about 10" and need at least 75 gallons. But since you have an oscar and a jag I'll go ahead and assume your tank is over that.
They can live for up to 10 years and do well with other large cichlids and also with plecos and some larger catfish.
Temp between 68 and 75F
pH between 6.2 and 7.6
hardness 5-10
They are omnivorus and do well with flake foods and pellets although they should be feed live foods occasionally. Do NOT feed live fish.
Hope it helps and good luck!

Cool fish, make sure to feed him high quality food and as he grows the colors will develop beautifully.
