This may be TMI but I am so thrilled that I have to share. Last Halloween I had my yearly mammogram. It was abnormal and since then I have had several scans and biopsies. Last week I had general anesthesia surgery to remove a mass from my breast and today I got the final biopsy results...No cancer!
It is such a relief to have this behind me. Now, my CXR did show a nodule on my lung so I will have a Cat Scan next week. One issue down, one to go. Once I get this taken care of then I can begin to refocus on my tanks again. I do need some new fish and more Sakura shrimp. I think this will be a good year after all.

Oh Sil, this is awesome news, indeed!

I am beyond happy for you!

Praying that the lung thing is a non-issue, as well!

I have missed you very much here on the forum, hopefully with your mind at ease you'll be here with us more often

Congratulations! The period of not knowing while you wait for tests and results is the worst sort of anxiety. So glad a large part of this is behind you and hopes for a good result coming up.

Thanks Matt and Sue. The waiting sucks big time, that is for sure. I plan to be more thoughtfully active here now.

It just now sunk in for me (sorry), that it has been 3+ months that you have been worrying about this, your courage and strength pulled you through it, I doubt I could ever be as strong

God bless, and welcome back

Good news, indeed! Welcome back!

As one who has had an immediate blood relative with breast cancer, I've had to be vigilant for my own sake. Thus far, the mammograms have all been normal, though I've been warned that my tissue is thick and it's possible to miss things. I've been advised to have an MRI for finer detection but my insurance won't cover it (despite the family history), and my requests for one have been met with hostility and generally an uppity attitude: "MRIs can miss things, too!" And this doctor is also a woman! Ever get the feeling that some people in the medical profession just don't care?

MCHR , Meraid and Lee~~ Thank you for your kind words.
Matt~~ It feels good to be back. In the back of my mind I always felt that the final breast biopsy would be benign. What threw me for a loop, momentarily, was the CXR. I had it done on the 10yr anniversary of the passing of my mom from lung cancer. As I stood in front of the X-ray machine I remember thinking " this was the beginning of how mom found out she had lung cancer". She was also getting a pre-op cxr for her breast surgery. So when I got the results of a lung nodule I was in shock.

Mermaid~ I thought that I would have to convince the dr that I needed the cat scan but he said that he had already requested it to be scheduled. Now I wait for insurance authorization. Hopefully it gets authorized. If not I will appeal.

I have faith that God and my Mom are watching over me and things will be alright. Thanks for letting me vent.

Phenomenal news Sil! It takes a lot to play that waiting game for sure. Goodness it feels like an eternity, and I didn't have to go three months. Brave and strong people are what it takes to get through even a scare like that. Congrats on your good news and glad to see you back!

Thank you Hockeynut and sfsamm!
I would have been able to get the surgery at the end of December but I developed a golf ball size hematoma from the stereotactic biopsy. We had to wait 3 weeks for it to resolve first. Then my "wonderful " insurance told me that I needed pre authorization to see a specialist (new year with new insurance). This was incorrect info but it took two weeks to straighten out. Then my prep visit was canceled because it snowed and the office closed that day.
Man, I'm just happy that it is finally over!

I would have been able to get the surgery at the end of December but I developed a golf ball size hematoma from the stereotactic biopsy. We had to wait 3 weeks for it to resolve first.

I had this same procedure a couple of years ago (all was fine, no follow up needed) but I'm glad it was before I read this or I might have cancelled the appointment. Sorry you had to go through that afterwards.

Thanks F&BK, Joe and Sue.
Sue, I would never want anyone to hold off on an important test because they heard of possible painful results. Sometimes these things just happen. But the risks and anxiety far out way the fact that it can save your life.
Just a reminder to all for how important mammograms are!!!!
