Definitely a different filter. I prefer and only use Fluvals.
What type of cichlids?
Could you recommend a model of Fluval I havent made a decision yet on the type of Cichlids still must do some research on them any suggestions would be great Thanks PEZ

I dont know if this is correct but the guy at my pet store is best for Oscars if you get one of them.
Hmm...if you're gonna use the magnum 250 for the 70 or 100g tank with another filter then I'd recommend the Fluval 405. But if you have cash to spare, then get a Fluval FX5. You won't need the magnum then.

Fluval 405 as stated along with something else (Magnum should be enough).
I highly suggest checking out peacocks, from Lake Malawi. They are about the most colorful fish you can get in freshwater. They are hardy and stay relatively small (about 5"). There are lots of pics of mine in my PhotoBucket page.

I installed an Eheim 2028 "kit" (rated up to 160g) in my 70g on Monday and it's working like a champ! My Cichlids love the current it puts out of the spray bar and the water is clearer with a lot less of small particles floating around compared to my old Emperor 400 HOB.
Of course, the Eheim is probably one of the most expensive filters out there but the quality of the parts and the amount of spares/extras sent in the kit was amazing!
Just my .02 :D Good luck!

Yeah, Eheim filters are great! Costly though...but worth it.

I have a Fluval FX5 on my 75 Gallon tank. Got it brand new off of ebay for 210 dollars. That price includes shipping. It's a little big though. If a 5 gallon bucket doesn't fit under your tank, this thing won't either.
I will definitely use your 20 gallon filter in addition to whatever you decide to use to help the nitrogen cycle bacteria move to the new filter.
I love my Fluval FX5, so I agree with the guy/gal above that says I'll only use fluval!!
I also have a fluval 403, but it is not running right now. (I got it used and have had to obtain a lot of parts that where broken)
EDIT: Sorry, I missed your last post that said you already bought a filter.
Thanks for all the info on the filters they are definetly some expensive filters I was looking them up in my Foster and Smith Catalog I am sure they are well worth the price. The Peacock Cichlids are awesome looking fish probably will be going with them. Pez

Im with everyone else, on upgrading your overall filtration system. Definitely go with either Eheim, Rena, or Fluval (in that order in my opinion). They also range from most expensive, but either of those brands will do awesome with a cichlid tank.
I personally prefer the Rena systems over anything, but thats just me.
Good luck :)

Why have you found Fluval to be less than Rena?
