jungle vallisneria planting

So I bought some jungle vallisneria , can I get away with just weighting it down on top of the gravel. The roots look like they were trimmed, so very short.

Go ahead and stick in the substrate some where that looks nice to you :)

You can keep it weighed down until more roots produce if you want but it will do that any way in the substrate.

I have Vals in my tank and did just what Joe suggested. They'll take root quickly and then start multiplying in 3-4 weeks.
