Is there any cory species out there that stay really small like the oto and are happy without any companions?

I think all cories are schooling. There are some small ones like panda (Corydoras panda - 2") and pygmy (Corydoras pygmaeus - 1.5").

generally all cories can be put in community tanks and many only grow to a couple inches, you could only have one however it would probably be happier in a group

we need a tank sze and other fish so that we can tell you if you can keep a type of catfish...because cories and otos can be generally kept with any fish that is peaceful. But alot of other catfish grow fairly large and will eat fish.

You could go witht he glass catfish??? it swims like a normal fish though and it is clear. so you can see through it.

Smallest Cory's are the Pygmy, Hastatus & the Habrosus but all corydoras are schooling and will not feel well on their own... get at least 4 best is 6 if space allows it.

I have 5 leopard danios, 4 guppies (I let the fry survive on their own), and 2 otocinclus. And its a 10g tank. Which is way I'm looking for a catfish that stays small and can be happy on its own.

Pygmy, Hastatus & the Habrosus are perfect for a 10g and you can manage 6 of either type of these..

Whoops typo on the fish I have in my tank. I have 3 otocinclus. So I would be able to have 5 leopard danios, 4 guppies (possibly more if fry survive), 3 otocinclus, and 6 pygmy cories, all in a 10g tank?

The cories really are tiny that I mentioned and they help clean up leftover food so bring some good... if you have good filteration then I believe it is possible but then you are at the total max.

I have 4 pygmy cories in my 10 gallon and they all seem to be very happy to me. They never sit still!

Looking for more advice on getting what type of cory and how many with my present tank conditions. I really don't want to overstock my tank anymore then what is.

Guppies are pretty good little poopers and you have 5 of them. I'm not sure I'd even want to put one more fish in that size tank. I don't recall reading anything about the water change schedule for this tank or specifics about filtration so without that info I would say no more fish. If you are dedicated to your water change schedule and have a big honking filter on that bad boy I'd still say get a 20g tank if you want to add more fish. But that's just me...I want to be able to have a little laps in my maintenance schedule and not have my community all going belly up.

That settles it for me. No little cories until the guppies are out of the tank.

I think you made a good decision. So many people want to put more fish in their tanks even though they are overstocked just because they want more fish. They don't think of the fish at all and how an overstocked tank will affect them. I'm sure you have made your fish very happy!

Corydoras Paleatus can live to 15 years... I have one here that is 9 years old :thumb:

most all corys stay the same size. they are generally small and good for a community tank.

NO lol, I say 3 are fine in a 10g. That is still overstocked for you.
