Now here's one that has been around since 1842!! One of the most common corys kept besides aeneus, most of us "old guys" have kept them at least once. It's been awhile for me but they are probably the easiest to keep, aeneus withstanding. They get a little bigger, 2.8" and can be kept comfortably up to 78F. There is a tank raised albino version that is very popular and a tank raised version with a high dorsal fin, most paleatus are now tank raised. I had to use the word "beginner fish" but out of the corys this would be the one for those of you wanting to try cory's for the first time.

I like this cory a lot but even as common as it is, it just doesn't seem to be one that's often stocked by my LFS. I'm sure they'd order it if I asked and it was available on their supplier list. I can't remember seeing it at Petsmart or Petco either, but I really haven't looked for cories for a while so maybe I've just missed seeing it around. I see the julies, anaeus and pandas and often the more expensive ones ($17+).

It would seem so, but I trust DD's judgement thumbs2:, they are hard to tell apart in albino form ;-)

Look at their shape and dorsal.
First three are paleatus, last three aeneus.
Visited a German shop recently.
In the paleatus labeled tank was one paleatus and 100 aeneus hahahaha
