If your tired of all the spots and stripes of many of the cory's, here's a really neat one. It's been around a long time (1914) but didn't seem to reach popularity until the late 80's. Reaching a length of just 2" it's a little smaller than many cory's. I found them hardy and easy to keep, they like their temps in the mid range 76F, though some have kept them a little higher with good results.

The true "Bandit Cory"

I prefer them over the "false bandit" C. melini, a cory I've not kept but of course there is plenty of good video of these ;-)

Ted Judy did some good ones of his trip to Columbia, you can tell he's a Cichlid guy though ;-)

He got me when he said "more tetras than we could count"

This is a cory that I'd love to keep someday.

From the Seriously Fish link on them that you've provided, their upper temperature range is around what I can provide... except for summertime, that is. If I can figure out a better way of dealing with that, these are on my Yes List.

Thanks for sharing this collection of vids of them!

Very neat little guys, Lee. Thanks for sharing!

It always hits me in the feels when I see people keeping cories in a bare bottom tank. They need sand, dang it!

I totally agree with you there.......... ;-)

My albinos would swim in their sand, if they could haha They shove their little snouts so deep they're up to their eyes in sand :)

I will start a protest against the word "false" hahaha. False bandit is the awesome melini, false julii is the awesome trilineatus.
Nothing false hahaha.
They are all soooo awesome.
Lee is making my addiction harder and harder. I can't be helped. Maybe emigrate to Southe America ????

I just saw that TWS is out of them, but they usually stock them, so they are not out of the running until I actually order, hopefully next week.

steeler58

Even though they are small, they get in and mix it up with the Schwartzi at dinner time ;-)
