View Full Version : Corydoras adolfoi

Of all the Cory's, IMO this is the most colorful and my favorite. They seem to be very available as you see tank raised specimens for sale everywhere but dealers seem to "use their beauty" against the market, if that makes sense, as their prices continue to be quite high even for the tank raised ones. A "semi rare" cory will sell for around five to six dollars but these are always ten or above :(

They can take a little higher temp, they are hardy and will eat just about anything you feed them that can reach them.
Still fairly new to the trade, they have only been around since 1982.

Those fry are adorable!
Do you think Adolphoi would school with Duplicates?

steeler58
05-06-2017, 09:02 PM
Yes, I read somewhere (I will try and find the article) that their territories overlap and they have been found in each others company.

This from seriously fish: "The existence of multiple, similarly-coloured species which coexist and form large mixed schools is relatively common in the genus."

I only have 3 Duplicates (wild) left and was wondering if TWS's Adolphoi (TR) would do better in my tank. They are so similar in appearance but would TR be more adaptable?

Good to mention Adolfoi and Duplicareus are mixed up so often. Often the sold aldolfoi appear to be duplicareus.

Both awesome !

I had my eye on your dupes Sil! They always caught my attention, especially when I found out they better tolerate higher temps. I would love to see the Adolfoi and Dupes together in your tank! I'm dreaming for mine.

Tx Lee for all the info on this awesome cory :)

Here's another very cool one I've never seen and it's been around since 1972................

So so so many torturous photo's.

Since I am likened to a ibis I will call animal cruelty for sharing such torturous images.

C.Zebrina is my ultimate favorite. They look like plecos! I mean, zebra plecos and even those can be pricey. How expensive would these cories be? Omg!

TWS gets in some very rare stuff but like you said; it's usually a "pretty penny" and you have to jump fast to get them ordered, seems there's a lot of cory lovers out there ;-)
