yeh i would assume that means it is.

But are you doing this for ottos in your puffer tank?

If so you could always get some and put them in your one of your other tanks first.

you could also take an empty bucket and put some rocks in it (large ones) and place it in sunlight and let algae grow on them. Then you could put an algae rock in the tank to feed the ottos, when its clean switch it out for another algae rock.

my pleasure...hope it works. You could add a pinch of flake food to the water to feed the algae as well and if you can't do it outside, stick a clip lamp on the bucket to help algae production.

yeah there is no way i could do it outside because it is winter now meaning snow and freezing temperatures. I could get abig clear container to allow the light through and set it near a window and use a light.

how long do you think it will take for the algae to gro on the rock or whatever i use??????

I would imagine it would be pretty quick (a week or so) if you can give it excessive amounts of light (sunlight and a desk/clip lamp)

I assume you mean for the otos? If the tank is absolutely spotless without you ever having to cleaqn the algae, there is too little. If you have to wipe off algae, you have plenty.

well i never scrap or clean my glass. I never have and probably never will so i would just have to wait i guess????

and the tank is no where near the sunlight so that would prob make the algae growth go slower??
