Oh dear he is beautiful, how big aquarium need I have to have one of those, and why are there alot of marbels on the bottom of his tank?

I would recommend atleast 40 gallons. they grow big.
They are best kept in brackish water and requires a lot of hiding places. They will sooner or later eat any small fish you keep with them. feed with shrimps and fish meat.

Thank you for the information, so they are best ept in a tank alone?

More or less. Yes.
I have kept 4 of them with platy. Many get eaten but you always get fry to cover those you lost and they seem to get better at avoiding the eels after a few generations.

Poor Platy! I dont think I will do that. I love animals, and I have a phobia against dead fish. But the eels can bet kept together whit other eels?

yes. atleast more of the same type of eel. Not all eels can be kept with all other eels.

no i got mine in a specialty shop and he was thirty dollars and that is not his tank that is a tank i use to take pictures of my fish in. right now he is in a 120 gallon tank
08-10-2006, 07:42 PM
Ok. Well you do get good pictures in it. One question what is gallons in liters?
08-10-2006, 07:58 PM
3.75 liters = 1 gallon

Ok thanks. That is a rather big tank. I was offerd a 2000 liter tank once, it was a room divider, placing it in a big room to divide up a kithen and a living room part for example, it was offerd to be quite cheap, but I would not have had any idea of how to tend such a huge tank.

It is actually easier to tend for such a tank than a 100L tank.

Yes I have read that later, but I did not know that at the time. And I never get animals I dont know how to care for. And I was afride there would be so many fish in there, one might die and I would not even notice.
