I am going to get a pond in the spring! My pond-guy came over and gave us a watercolor painted plan. Here it is: Oh, by the way, the bottom pool is 24' x 14' x 3'.

wow that looks like an awesome pond design, just a suggestion that i always thought be cool for a pond is to have stepping stones that leads to the center of the pond so u can be surrounded by all the fish. be kinda peaceful to sit in the middle and watch them all go by:c9:

Are you outting in goldfish or some massive fish? I've seen some with the shovel nose catfish or arowanas that were awesome.

I am getting 12-13 koi. Arowanas and catfish are tropical. They shouldn't be in a pond, unless you live in mexico or something with warm water all year round.

Awesome. We have a pond outside, with goldfish in it. I live in New Hampshire, US. We used to take them out in the winter, but ours is 4feet deep so they pretty much jsut sit on the bottom all winter. In the spring they're fine.

My only suggestion is, depending where you live, I would make it a little deeper.

We have a large pond, water falls and bog (natural filter).
Depending on where you live, perhaps 10% should be deeper;
also, you should check local requirenents: depth, fencing / barrier?

and I should add: Consider shubunkin for their colors and friendly behavior.
We have 14 getting their first winter.

Looks good, but also would like to see more landscaping - what sort of plants are you going to have around it?

Me and My dad are putting in a pond this summer. I hope it looks as good as yours.I also like the stepping stone Idea.

Beautiful! If it turns out half as nice as those drawings, you'll have an amazing space to relax in.

We are not sure what we will put around the pond, but we are making our whole yard a wildlife sancuary, particularally for birds. Things like goldenrod, serviceberry, oaks, and dogflower.

I am not really a golfish person. I like koi better. We are getting 12-13, depending on the price.

We checked the restrictions, and it has to be less than 24 inches if it doesnt have a fence UNLESS it is not made for swimming. Our pond is not for swimming, so we will make it 36".
