I have a heavy planted aquarium. Whenever I do my weekly 50% water changes the water comes out pretty yellow. Probably close to Apple Juice if I had to make a comparison. I especially noticed it today whenever I saw it without the lights on. There is no physical algae in the aquarium other than the faint amount on the glass after a week of lighting. I keep my lighting on 4-6 hours a day. You can't see the yellowing when the light is on, only whenever it is off or I am doing a water change. Since there is no physical algae growing in the tank, can I assume this means my tank is in balance?

Is it media leaching?
Tannins?

Anything newly changed or added?

Now that you say that I did put some driftwood in there about a month ago. That could probably be it!

Very likely yes. Color your describing sounds right. Nothing to worry about

Yep, healthful tannins in the water, no cause for concern.
