So I've posted a few topics but thought I should introduce myself as well. :)

My name is Alicia. I'm 28, I still live with my Mom and stepfather and trust me I cringe about it a lot.

I have 2 dogs (Jackaroe and Stagger Lee), and currently a betta I renamed to Wharf (to go along with the Grateful Dead naming theme).

I am a nanny by day and when I was young my family had a large fish tank with lots of fish that probably didn't belong together. I can recall loving our african frog buddy, and I know we had some sort of shark but I do not think it was a bala shark so whew?

I grew up watching my Dad hunt fish and trap, I've always been fascinated by critters in the water and am teetering between a biology degree specializing in herpetology, or biology specializing in marine life. I go back to school next fall so I am hoping I can decide definitively by that time lol.

Thanks everyone, glad to be here! I've learned a lot already. Now thinking if getting all my nanny kids and people I know into fish haha.

I am in Portland! A bit north actually.

I am going this weekend finally!!! I'm excited to check everything out and pick the staff's brains haha. :) Hoping to get some good floating plants for my tank now that I've got some with roots. I noticed Wharf's filter is super hyperactive even when I turn it to low and block the water pouring out, so I'm hoping some floating plants will help calm it down!

He doesn't seem to mind, though!

Haha it was honestly just because we had it and I needed a light for those plants. I figured an indoor grow light should work.. So far so good the plants seem extremely happy!

I will get an LED too eventually for my 10gal but for now this could probably pump out enough light for 2 5gal tanks lol.
