Lost one of my oto's today....or yesterday, or recently.....
A body "washed up" onto one of the rocks.....still had a bit of back color, but no head. Not sure how long it was dead, since the last oto that I had die a few months ago was completely jelly like with zero color. Darnit..... :( I guess I can not feel too bad though, since oto losses are fairly common. Especially newly bought ones. But Booooooo anyway.....
Awww....that's sad...sorry for your loss megan...

Thats unfortunate Meg, was it the one that started out as a loner that you bought the friends for?

No, it was one of the 4 little guys that I bought recently.

I'm so sorry your little oto died Megan. :( Did you say that it's head was missing? Or was that its head was missing color?

Did this headless corpse look bitten, or like the head was removed too neatly?

It looked either rotted off or ripped off. I dont think the gourami would've done anything though.....they haven't bothered with any of the neons or other oto's. Think something happened? Are dwarf gourami notorious for eating others?

i dont think the gourami is the culprit, theyre not too fast so the otto would have been able to get away

Sorry Megan! You're right though. Otos are hard to transition. I was just wondering since your tank is so new that maybe there wasn't too much algae buildup for them to clean. Are you feeding them algae wafers too?

Hmmm...sorry Megan. Perhaps he was just starting to become infected when you got him.
