my 4ft water conditions are great and my angels are spawning in there

but i have alot of agression in there only because of my angels
i have 2 breeding pairs in there and i am nearly ready to move them to my divided 3ft breeding tank, i am just waiting for it cycle

but for some very much unknown reason my gouramis are dropping off like flies

i have no idea why?
is it possible that they are dying because of the agression in there
it is a pretty agressive tank right now

please leave ideas and thoughts i really need some ideas

cheers everyone

How are they dying? Do they look sick or are there any battle wounds?

Ouch! Torn apart? Yikes, that's damn freaky. Hmm...but the death of the gourami's still puzzle me...

why not move some of your filter media into your cycling tank and move the angels right away? this would save remaining fish and accomplish your cycling.

what you should do (as msjinkzd has suggested) is move some of your filter media over. But if you have the ones where there is carbon and the black piece.....then you can take the black foam piece and squeeze all of the gung out of it into the tank that is cycling and then let the black foam sit on the bottom of the tank by the intake......this is what i did for my 10g and it cycled in 7 days.

i only have the 2 foam rings as my filter in there
the ones that are suppose to be safe for the fry
do i still need to cycle it?

Were the gouramis gasping or hiding or anything. Did you notice any not healthy behavior? Sounds too much like a mystery.

eating and swimming around happily
i honestly dont know what is going on in my tank

you could squeeze the filter goo from the foam into the filter of your bigger tank to transfer some bacteria.

Gourami's are weird and seem to die for no apparent reason. I have had no luck with dwarfs at all but never had a problem with the golds, 3-spot or the moonlights survival rate. Three weeks ago I bought 10 fire gourami's and have 6 left. My water is always perfect with 50% + water changes weekly but still they die. Could be the water is too hard for them, too soft for them or you fed them with your mouth open. Who the heck knows.

About the angels. You will always have a problem with angels unless you can separate them into other tanks. If you remember, I was tearing my hair over my angels and the only way to bring harmony for the angels and the other fish is to separate them into pairs and put them in their own tanks. During breeding, they are more aggression but frankly, they don't get along any of the time either.
