heres my situation.

on my 55g i have a HOB on the right side for filtration, i was going to add a canister but i dont need it.

on the side the HOB is, there is 0 diatom algae, but on the left side there is some on the LR.

i think because theres no filter on the left side the diatom algae is occurring. i know that skimmers reduce diatom algae, and im planning to put the skimmer on the left side.

after the skimmer is placed on (buying one tomorrow), the diatom algae on the left side should go away, right? i do weekly water changes, have perfect lighting, and dont overfeed so i think its not having a skimmer

Could it be from lack of flow?

i dont think so, i have even powered powerheads on each side.

i think i just need to add the skimmer. its odd how exactly midway the algae stops


EDIT- i know i have enough flow because i have never had any cyano

just a small update, since the skimmer was added the diatom disappeared, so that was the problem
