This is my Golden Ram. I had him in the tank with my 13 inch Pleco, Herman. Anyway Herman gets protective of his algae tablets and gets a little rambunctious if you know what I mean. The Ram liked to try and eat the tablets. Can you look at his left gill and tell me if you think that is a battle wound? It was not there one day and then bam it was there the next. I am putting a pic of Herman here to so you can see the size ratio between the two. I mean My Ram is happy, eating healthy, not doing anything that would make me think he is sick, rapid breathing clutching fins. (I am assuming it is a male cause it is harder to tell on him cause of his color and the fin. Just Not the same as my Blues) Anyway I ramble. My water parameters are all on track zero ammonia/nitrIte 5ppm nitrate water temp maintained at 79. Anything else you guys need to analyze let me know. I am sure I forgot something.

Well, it could be, but I don't think so, if it goes away in a few days, it's fine, but if it doesn't, it could be some disease or something.

Thank you for your input. I took him out of the tank with Herman and put him in a quarintine tank a few days ago when I noticed it. He seems to be doing really well. Gills are a nice normal color, no laboured breathing. Swimming normally. Eating really well.

Looking at the pics in looks like a bruise ... I had a fish get a bruise from smacking into the glass once <tsk>

I agree with Fishalicious, looks like an impact injury. I'd watch carefully. Sounds like you are doing everything else quite well!

I wanted to update you guys that gave your advice. He now has a name...
PeeWee. lmao Herman nicked him so, goes to show how creative I am with names. He is doned 'pee wee' and he is doing just fine. almost healed up. I was glad for that. I guess Pee Wee just got to close to Herman at feeding time and well the rest is history. Again thanks very much for the input.thumbs2:
