View Full Version : My new betta from a unexpected place

So I found this beauty in an unexpected place. I was actually torn between two, but this one actually took an interest and me and swam towards me in the little betta display cup in ....MEIJER'S.

Yes there were alot i wouldn't have even considered, and one rep, who looked to be a manager knew alot of the cups needed water changed due to overfeeding. I didn't put any of his original cup water in my community tank for that reason. Though it was very hard to get a good picture of him.

I don't have a name for him yet, or know his coloration profile. But of the two crowntails i was looking at this one chose me.

That being said i just did a 50% PWC on my community tank today as it had 40ppm NitrAte. Considering the tank is planted, that's not a good thing. Though the new siphon i got for the 20 gallon has a thicker tubing...i had to fight to get it where i wanted it. It's a aqueon ball siphon made for tanks 15-55 gallons. My top fin bucket is only 2.5 gallons so it wanted to knock things over a bit :D. Water was treated with 10ml of Easy life fluid filter medium portioned into each bucket of water put into the tank, and the remainder directly into the tank.

One last picture before I go, and probably the best shot i took of him.

Enjoy....also he still needs a name....

Nice betta.

I've never heard of that "easy life" stuff before, why not use Prime?

I still have prime too.

but it was a product that someone on the bettafish.com forum introduced me to. You can buy it off amazon.com.

It's as good as prime is, in fact another member suggested in my betta tank once it cycled i can alternate it and prime. It does leave what looks like tiny grains of sand at the bottom if you have a clear bottomed tank with no substrate, but that is expected with the product and is harmless.

Below are two reviews of the product. One by a normal person user like us, and the other by FisheyeTV.

Now why i don't feel that you could overdose on this product safely, one of the users on bettafish.com (which i go to sometimes for reference as it has the most extensive betta fish reading material) stated you could Drink this product because it's all natural. I won't be trying that lol.

Thank you very much.

Will this betta be going in the 10G you are cycling or will you get another one?

I am thinking about getting another betta for the ten gallon. Since things seem to be going well after the first couple days of this boy in the community tank, I don't feel i should stress the guy out and move him.
