Hello All '
Many thanks to everyone for the advice and warm welcome .When I get the tank set up , I'll post pics on the site . Anyway , It'll be a community aquarium I'll be setting up with hopefully Danios/Tetras/Mollies/Platies/ and Gouramis . Is there other suitable fish ? As always folks , advice / comments are most welcome .
In relation to plants for the tank......Plastic or Real ? I'm sure there are pros and cons to both but I'd love to hear your thoughts on the subject .
Do you agree that an Eheim Canister Filter would be best for a 100g+ tank ????
Many thanks for the welcome folks.
See ya !!

it depends on which fish you like.
for filtration i would use a biowheel 350 HOB and a fluval XP3 canister

Hi Squirt_12 ,
Someone calculated the tank to be 118 gallons but I'm not too sure of the capacity in gallons . Big tank though ! 5ft x 2ft.

its about a 110g tank i think, a really good size
What about a Fluval FX5 or eheim proII 2028?
450 liters is about 118g. Since it's a Juwel, I'm assuming you're in Europe? A friend of mine in Germany has the same tank for his Discus and is running 2 canisters (sorry, don't know which ones).
For that size tank, I'd go with canister filters, you have more options for filter media and for the return system. However, I have very little experience in canister filters, so I can't recommend one, but do make sure you get enough filteration for the tank. Rule of thumb is what ever the filter rated for, divide it by half and that is what the filter is OK for. So, if the filter says It's good for a 100g (378L) tank, you shouldn't use it by itself for a tank larger than a 50g (189L). Also, keep an eye on the flowrate rating, you should try to get about 10x the volume of your tank filtered per hour, so you should have a combined flowrate of 1180 gallons per hour or 4466 liters per hour.
