one i made up for a few corals, as in one or two, is FALRWSC (Fish And Live Rock With Some Corals), but a tank with alot of corals like my 55g are basically a reef.

lol, no prob

feel free to ask more SW questions, i love answering SW questions more than FW

yeah i find SW mroe interesting than FW....

with SW you have more colourful fish and you can get alot of cool coral and the tank just looks more alive to me.
and all of the money that you put into it....is all worth it in the end.....and i also find (just by this forum) that SW fish don't get diseases as often as FW fish.

man......just talking about this makes me want a SW tank.

SW fish do get diseases, but like for example with ick you can leave it.

thats one of the reasons i dislike FW, all you get to look at are fish, shrimps, or snails. in reefs, theres these little bugs in the LR that run around, little starfish, everything. i also prefer a nicely done reef to a planted tank.

ive also liked the ocean more than rivers and lakes. i just think its interesting that my YT was shipped from hawaii reefs, and my arrow crab was caught 60m down in the ocean

yeah that is alot better than FW....i am not saying that i hate freshwater but i think that i wold love a SW tank alot better than a FW tank.

The SW inverts and fish all look cool too....they are different shapes and they all have brilliant colour to them.

i would love a SW tank also, but i have the parents problem lol.

especially shrimp are more colorful, in FW the most colorful shrimp is probably a cherry shrimp, and in SW you have coral banded shrimps, etc.

and SW fish can be so much morei nteresting. I mean cmon who doesn't think that lionfish (my favorite sw fish) don't look awesome!

Although i'm VERY impartial to bettas, and a red dragon cambodian HM, or a blue and yellow mustard gas betta is just amazing

yeah and SW fish have, IMO, more colur variations and patterns on them...their colour are WAY more bright as well. and i know that i have asid there colour is bright like a thousand times but it is. lol.

WOW...the first one is amazing...with al fo the patterns and colour to it....i don't know what it is called.

the second one is obviously a blue hippo tang correct??? AKA Dory. lol.thumbs2:
very nice.

would they fit into a 55g or would you buy a bigger tank and make it into SW???

EDIT- is the first one a chevron tang??? i just went by what it said in the URL.

I would have a lionfish. I really love the flame angels and the copperbanded butterfly fish too, although copper banded are hard to feed in captivity.

i dont think that the first one is a chevron, but its a member of the tang family.

and yep, the second is a blue hippo, i want one but they need a 150g. im planning a 150g reef, and i could get one temporarily in my 55g but since a blue hippo is from the tang family he would fight with my yellow tang

WOW....a 150g tank???? that is HUGE.......i would never beable to afford that....lol.

2 different tangs would fight each other???? that is weird...you think that they would get along...even in that big of a tank they wouldn't get along??? with lots of hiding places????

cocoa_pleco
11-23-2007, 09:49 PM
in groups of 10 or more they wont fight because the aggression gets spread out in groups. to have over 10 yellow tangs you need at least a 300g. in a 150g tank you could get away with 2 as long as they are young and are placed in the tank at the same time

i want a copperbanded butterfly fish too, but they arent reef safe

squirt_12
11-23-2007, 09:50 PM
o so you would have to buy both tangs at the same time then?????

thats too bad....would you try it maybe??

in the 150g, i might be able to. if i buy another tang and transfer my current tang to the 150g the same time as the new one it should work.

i still have more fish i want for the 55g though

EDIT- heres the kind of tank im aiming for in my 55g, to get it that nice you have to slowly build on though

They are reef safe. However, many die within the first 6 months. While others who are perfectly healthy one day, will be found dead the next.

very few CBB survive after a year. I personally think that they should be left as a special order specimen and not imported for the sake of importing them

probably a little longer if you took your time.

I'm aiming to have a full blown LPS reef with a 2 or 3 SPS and some sofities/polyps. I am aiming for 18 months to fully complete
