Seems like my 5 glowlight tetras are together about 60% of the time but the rest there is one fish that seems to be off by himself.

it is ok
glowlights dont always school
mine are what you call a loose school group meaning they school together when they want too,
the other term is a tight school which means they school together all the time
so dont be worried he will school with the others when he wants to

I think it's normal. My neon tetras do that too. I guess they just wanna be alone sometimes...LOL.

Yeah - don't worry about it too much. I have a Neon named "Jim" who is only distinguishable by the fact that he is always the one who ends up hanging in the back right corner of the tank behind all the plants, on his own, LOL.

You might try adding a few numbers to your ranks of Tetras? I have heard that the larger the school, the more likelihood of them schooling together. But - the loner's probably OK - just as long as he eats!

My Glowlight and Neons schooled together once upon a time, but now I see my Hatchets with the Glowlights more often than some of the Neons. Very odd, but they all still come out for the dinner bell, so I let them do their thing.

I'd only worry if the loner stops eating or starts swimming abnormally.
