After seeing all of these deals that Ed has to miss out on because of his lack of transportation, I thought I would log onto craigslist to see what they had. Almost every time I log on, there is nothing but the same overpriced junk. This time was different.
12g nano cube. I am going to pick it up Monday.
He said $80, but he really just wants to get rid of it, so I am going to see If I can talk him down to $50, because I am just that persuasive.
My old 10g nano has kinda gone downhill. All I have left is the blue damsel, with my few mushroom corals. After the cruddy water conditioner killed off most of my stuff, I kinda lost interest in it, because I put so much work into it. My neighbor just started up a 40 gallon salt tank, and I was going to give him all of my LR and my damsel, but now I think I will just give him the damsel.
Stocking options anyone?

most smaller fish like firefish and clownfish would work. purple firefish are really nice and usually only $30-$50
Remind me again...how old is your 'old 10g'?

About 9 months old.
I thought it was about that...lol...it's not very old...SW tanks take 6-12 months to settle and mature...

ditto on that, it takes usually a year to fully mature. you work like a ant on reefs for the first year then it pays off

thats what i plan on putting in my 10g nano when its setup, along with one other type of small fish that im not sure of yet and then a cleanup crew.
I think clowns and firefish look great together

i dont really think its all that much squirt, i've been trying to figure out how much it would cost me with a standard 10g and i think i could do it in under 300$, 150$ of that being from the lighting. The only thing i didnt include in my price list was the corals and fish. You might be able to do it for even less with one of those all in one nano cubes but im not sure.
(p.s. woo-hoo 1,000th post :D)

all-in one nanocubes can be pricey. most stock ones come with small lights that give about 3w/g, which is my nanocube. i dont really use it anymore.
you could pull off a basic standard 10g for around $200, or a hi-tech for $300. it all depends if you can get deals. i got 10w/g on my 55g for only $500. you also have the consider that you should have 1.5lbs/g of LR in the tank, and that will cost about $150 in a 10g

Im not going to buy the tank. IT has only 24w.
He does have some 259w metal halide retrofit fixtures for about the same price though, I am awaiting his response of pics of them and dimensions.
