Is art and hobby acrylic paint safe for use on homemade caves etc. for in the tank? If not what kind of paint do they use for those store bought ornaments?
All answers appreciated.

If you are looking for spray paint, "Krylon Fusion" is inert, and is safe to use inside and outside of the aquarium.

Thanks Cocoa and Drum. Nope I didn't mean spray paint but that's good to know and will make a note of it in my notebook I'm now keeping ;).

I've never heard of epoxy paint. Guess I'll have to look it up. I've heard of epoxy resin that you mix up to patch fiberglass though.

Isn't the Fusion paint water based? Wouldn't it start to disintegrate if used underwater?

Nope. Its aquarium safe. It won't leech into the water, or anything.

When I was building an overflow for my salt tank, I painted it black under the recommendation of a guy on another forum with the krylon fusion paint. Thats what he uses on all of his.
