Today I had a date with a texan. Okay, a texas cichlid :ezpi_wink1: I wanted to put him and my blood parrot together and see if they breed. I am so very glad that I went ahead and put the divider in right from the start! The minute Tex (how original) was put in the tank he attacked the divider!! Now, if Pinky still had eggs in the tank, I have no doubt that she would have attacked him right back but as it was, she was rather astounded by the whole situation and wanted nothing to do with him!
I am quite surprised by his aggression too! He has been ramming and mouthing the divider since he's been in the tank, well except for a brief period where he was moving the snail around that is.

IF they don't breed or Pinky turns out to be sterile then she will get her tank back and Tex will get a tank of his own too!

IF they do breed successfully then I will get them a bigger tank and keep it divided unless by some miracle they end up getting along!

So here is a question. The bigger tanks, 100, 125, 150 are basically the same length but the height is different. I think the 100 would be the easiest to get into but give me your opinion owners of 125 & 150's. Do you have trouble reaching into the tank??

im considering 2 150g tanks soon and at aquagiant today, i looked at 150g and 600g tanks, i could reach the 150g ones, but the monster 600g was unreachable

its a SICK tank. it has really thick glass, and is like 12 feet long. it has about 20 koi in it, and for lighting just a few T-5's

I have a friend I met on-line in Orlando with a 500g saltwater tank and it's a monster!! I gave her my niger trigger and man was it a beautiful tank to see! Worth the 2 hour trip just for that you know??
But how on earth do you pay for the lighting on a thing like that, especially a reef tank??

Anyway, thanks for the info Cocoa! It sounds like I could get the 150g and be fine with it. Unless of course you're incredibly tall! Are you??

I have a 150G and @ 28" in depth it is almost to my arm pit to reach the bottom. I use a step stool to work with it but it is very do-able. I am 5'11". Thats like 180 cm?
