Hi hope you can all help me i bought a 20 gallon tank had it set up for 5 days used nitogen cycle and planning on getting 2 neon tetras and 1 guppy to start off with in 2 days time.It has freshwater in it heater, lights, temp guage, filters, gravel, etc. The questions i have are about the water cycle with having a new tank and adding fish do i need to do a water cycle yet.I have read lots off stuff saying that i should wait about 8 weeks before starting a water cycle as it will interupt with the water cycle and disturb things leading to killing off my fish.I im not sure as if i left it for 8 weeks then all the pooh will go in the gravel and wasted food and kill off the fish??I am thinking of adding 2 little fish a week and putting in nitrogen cycle weekly though. What is the best advice leave everything alone including gravel etc for 8 weeks or do a partial 10% water change every week. Please help im confused.

if i was u i let the tank cycle for about 2 to 3 weeks then add some algea eater .after a few weeks u can add the neon make sure u get 5 or more because they are schooling fish.it is important not to overstock the tank do 25% water change once a week the water should be aged 24hours or more .

also make sure you clean the gravel weekly otherwise you will spike in the ammonia, nitrite and nitrate
this will kill the fish too

i also check my ph and hardness weekly

Personally, I wouldn't add the Neons first. They can be a bit delicate.
The guppy is a bit more hardy.
