Crabs for a "Fish" Bowl?

I just got what looks to be a 10 litre fishbowl from a friend of my mother's, and I was wondering if I could put freshwater crabs of any sort in it?
I know that fishbowls are not suitable for goldfish, and I don't feel comftorble with putting a betta in one either, but I thought that some small crabs might be really nice in there, as a small paludarium - with a sponge filter and some dry portions, or some other aeration and filtration system, of course. I'm currently leaning towards either sawagani (Japanese marsh crabs) (http://aqualandpetsplus.com/Bug,%20Japanese%20Marsh%20Crabs.htm) or purple vampire crabs (http://caresheet.net/animals/crustaceans/vampire-crab-geosesarma/): The former appear, from my limited reading, to be really small and seem easy to care for, but the latter seem especially attractive and can breed in freshwater with ease, which I'd love to do if I got some of the little fellows. :cool:
In any case, I don't think my local aquarium store or anything else around here has either, so I'd need to get them online; thus, I'm also asking if anyone has any recomendations as to where to find a reputable source for aquarium livestock?

Now, I also found out that panther crabs (Parathelphusa panthernia) might be a sound choice: They are also freshwater, but panther crabs also have some cons (http://www.wetwebmedia.com/fwsubwebindex/fwcrabf2.htm).

They seem to get to be too big at 5 inches for a 2.5 gallon bowl tank (10 L). You need a lid for this tank, does it have a lid?

Maybe shrimp instead? Some nice cherry shrimp, or yellow "cherry" shrimp.

In addition to this, I've been considering a larger (20 L or more) tank with shrimp and some of these Thai Micro Crabs; the two apparently get along quite well. However, considering that this site say they require 18 L (http://aquariadise.com/7-easy-aquarium-invertebrates/#Crabs), (though this site implies otherwise (http://nanoaquarist.com/thai-micro-crabs-best-new-little-invert-nano/)) and since I have several small to medium-sized aquaria in my garage, I could simply use one of those instead of the bowl, just to be on the safe side.
Or, I could have just some small shrimp and a couple of plants in the bowl and a larger invertebrate aquarium or paludarium (I would use the latter if keeping vampire, panther or sawagani crabs).

I've got my aquarium setup and cycled just a week ago, with my Vallisneria and Hygrophila plants on and then my cherry shrimp (Neocaridina davidi var. red) and Blue Pearl (Neocaridina zhangjiajiensis) shrimp later, on the 28th; I'm waiting on the Thai Micro Crabs, as I had to make a special order from my local aquarium store.
In any case, I should have some pics posted as soon as I get the Thai Micro Crabs (Limnopilos Naiyanetri)! :22:
