Pregnant Tetra?

Along with having a tetra who's losing color, i've also got one tetra who's got a slightly chubby tummy and has been consistantly chasing all the others away from her. How do you know if they're pregnant or holding eggs? I have no experience with all this and know its rare (?) to actually get tetra fry b/c of the darkness issue. Just wondering if anyone has any idea's as to why she's actually anti-social all of a sudden.

Maybe she's getting ready to spawn. My tetras sapwn every week, depending on how much I feed them, but of course, they eat the eggs right away.

That happens in my 20g.

I have 4 red eye tetras. One is chasing the other three around the tank. They haven't done that before.

Sorry for asking this on you thread Megan. But I would like to know what should I do, if she is pregnant, to have the babies.

I would love to have baby tetras.

I'm glad someone is wondering the same thing. I've noticed one of my Glowlights has gotten quite plump over the past week or two. I'd also like to know what to look for. I've comtemplated moving it to my shrimp tank, but fear I'll lose baby shrimp for no reason.

I think I'll move my breeding grass pad into the other tank since the shrimp seem to leave the baby shrimp alone. I don't have enough Java moss to move over or that would be the better choice I think. I'm not so sure how breeding grass will work with Amano shrimp also in the tank.

lasm, I would try one of these options too if you don't have a seperate tank to move the eggs/fry to. A breeder tank may also help since I believe I have read the Tetra eggs aren't very sticky so they usually eventually fall to the bottom.

I'm going to continue to surf the net to see if I can find anything else which may help. I think it would be fun to catch them before they become food.

I found these online. Still looking for a picture of a pregnant tetra, but from what I'm seeing they are always pregnant lol. That may be why mine always appears plump.

I also read if you have Java Moss the fry can feed off the micro-nutrients associate with it.
