My wife gave me her old little 1 gallon beta tank. It's a corner style tank with just a light, and bubbler. I'm trying to find out if this would be suitable at all for a RCS tank, and if so, how I'd go about it?

I figure it's way too small but definitely wanted to check. Any ideas?

It could house a few. I would say about 10 or so would be comfortable in it. I have 5 Ghost Shrimp in a 1.5 gallon right now. They seem to like it, since theirs nothing else in there. If I was you, I would start with about 5. Make sure its well planted. I say 5 because their going to breed.

Now a lotta people are gunna tell you "No dont even think about it", but I know that a lot of people do it anyway regardless, so I'm trying to atleast give you a helpful guideline here. Now once they start breeding, you'll have to cull the young ones. Petsmart sells 5 gallons pretty cheap though, so you can always upgrade to that eventually.

I think you can do it but cycling a 1 gallon tank will be a bit trickey and even harder maintaining the parameters
I would preferably go for a 5gall

Don't think I can swing getting a 5. What kind of filter and how would you go about water changes?
