They don't. I have 3 adults and 40 fry and none of them eat plants. The adults do sometimes uproot the plants though

Well, they do graze on algae, which is a plant, after all...but that is a good thing

Give them enough vegs!!!

I think it does since this is a common question and an internet aquarium myth.

Bristlenose will not actively eat plants but they can certainly damage plants while grazing for algae. The effects of this can be mitigated by making sure it has another source of food. Most will prefer grazing on glass or tank decor if that's encrusted with algae. If not then feed fresh veg several times a week and they should leave most of you rplants alone.

I know you've probably got your answer by now, but I'll share my experience real quick. I have a Bristlenose in my 37g and the only thing I've ever seen her have any interest in is my amazon sword. Pop a carrot or zucchini in and they'd much prefer that over any plant. The only time you'd have a Bristlenose just destroy your plants, would be if you starved it.

Be aware it needs some protein as well beside algae/vegs. They are omnivores. Bloodworms, corypellets now and then aso !!!!

Good point. In many tanks they'll get this from leftover flake but, especially when they're older and the hormones start to act up, they will enjoy a protein dish once a week a lot. Mine adore a sliver of raw fish.
