I've been growing a sweet potato in my overflow box for a few months now. I put the slips in the sump that they are doing well. I'm not sure how the vine will do over the winter here in NE Ohio.

very cool I would love to try that.
Right now I have a devils ivy/porthos rooted in my tank substrate, and three leaves have made it to air and it seems to be doing well.

That's cool. I too have phothos in my tank, though I didn't plant it. I just stuck it down into the water a few inches. It has grown up and around my tank now.

Would you have a pic of this? I have pothos and I like the potted ones to stay shorter and bushy. So I keep taking cuttings off and they're just sitting in a glass of water right now with lots of roots developing. I gave a lot away and Just haven't got around to potting the rest and not sure I need another potted pothos around. Looking to see how you would get them to stay with the roots in the tank and the leaves out of the tank.

I would but it will not be till Monday as this is in my office tank. However I can describe it to you. I have a glass versa top and all I did was wedge the stem into the back of the lid so it holds it in place. I didn't even stick that much of the stem into the water. Now I have roots going almost to the substrate though they are hard to see for the plants already in the tank. It took it a while but I've trained it to grow around the front of the tank. I'll get you some pictures of it and how it is held in place.
That would be great, thanks. I also have the versa top, but I don't keep the plastic strip on the back, so there's a little larger gap. I thought that maybe as the leaves grew they might start pull the rest of the plant out. If I see yours, maybe I can work it out.

Try doing something like this with the plants.
