I am after a little advice regarding shrimp food. After a quick Google search it led me here....

I recently purchased my first freshwater shrimp and whilst searching the internet for the best food to give them i cam across this http://www.britishreds.co.uk/best-freshwater-shrimp-food/

Being new to shrimp i have no idea if its true or a sales ploy, can somebody advise?

Which species of shrimp?

The list of ingredients for that food is all good stuff. It's also things you can feed your shrimp without paying someone to grind it up and put it in a pellet or flake.

Mosura has long been the standard of shrimp food so I think I'd go for that. http://www.sharnbrookshrimp.co.uk/category_s/1817.htm if you got any fancy shrimp. If you got cherry shrimp you might as well feed a good quality cory wafer mixed with fresh vegetables.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I looked into Mosura but the actual ingredients contain a lot of wheat, things that don't need to be in it.

I have Crystal red shrimp

A well established tank, with some nice rotting leaf litter and a bit of algae, is usually all most shrimp need.

I keep bamboo shrimp and RCS, and the cherries reproduce like mad...I have no shrimp food, they flourish just fine with bits of leftover fish food, algae, and the infusoria my leaf litter helps produce.
