Hello All!

I'm not French; sorry! I'm a lapsed aquarist who returned to the hobby earlier this year after a 10-year absence. I had kept tanks from childhood until that break.

I currently keep a 33 long native North American tank with rainbow darters, shiners and one native killifish. I recently just set up a 10 gallon badis badis tank (see related thread I plan to post soon), and am strongly considering setting up a small (5 gallon?) for a trip of African killifish.

Glad to be here and to meet you all! Thanks for reading!

Welcome to the forum, I love that tank, looks very natural, can you get a pic of the killi? I may beable to ID it, I plan on setting up a 10g native when I move, and I'm getting some swamp darters soon.

Thanks, aquariumlover10 and slaphppy7. What natives are you considering? These are my first and I love it, including the (legal) collection and study of my local ecology.

Here is a pic of the killifish:36754

I am planning to keep, bluefin killifish, banded killifish, ghost shrimp, swamp.darters, and maybe mud minnows, Im not moving for awhile but I'm in a rental so I can only have 1 10g tank because of the renters insurance or something, I'm looking forward to pics of your tank. Oh and I don't know what kind of killi that is, what state are you in?

Thanks all! It's nice to make your acquaintance.

Aquariumlover10, that is a banded killi that I have, collected from a lake in my state of Minnesota. Your stock list sounds great. You'll have fun collecting if you go that route.

Here's an old video of my rainbow darters:

Your tank looks very cool.
I've never seen a hardscape like this one and I like it :)

Really cool vid on the darters too!!

Those look cool, ah ok, the pic in my native book has them look clear-ish.
Yup, its going to be cool, I am hoping I can get swamp darters in a couple weeks, did the darters spawn after the vid was shot?

Thanks, afro123!

Aquariumlover10: No, they didn't spawn. We collected them in the spring, so they had probably just spawned and were still "in the mood." My three females were not gravid at the time. Good luck with your native tank. I love mine. I just collected some new shiners using a plastic water bottle DIY minnow trap (see YouTube for tutorials).

36766 to the AC! Love the look of your tank.

That look could work really well in the 40 long I'll be setting up........
