hi!
i have an aquarium for about 3 months, and my current community is: 1 albine shark; 2 plecostomos (i think that´s how it is spelled), 5 tetra - neons, 1 swordtail male and 2 swordtail female.
the second female i purchased her already pregnate; since i didnt knew how long she was pregnate, i put her in the breeding box; and she misscariage...it gave "birth" to the embrions, little spheres, orange little spheres, with yellow dots on them, and one of the spheres had inside it a malformed fry....it was sad for me to look at that. and i am looking for reasons to the misscariage....because i dont know what happened....i did exactly with this female what i did with the first (and she gave birth to thirty frys). i also have another question. i have two guppy fryes on the community (not inside the baby breeding box), and they are ok, except for one that, notwithstanding showing great health, his spine has a shape of an L....that malformation is usual?
sorry for my bad writting english

From what I've read, stressing a pregnant fish by moving her too early can cause her to abort the fry... and the spinal deformity is probably a birth defect. That guppy should not be allowed to breed, so the defect is not passed on.
Sorry to hear of your troubles.

Yeah, that bent spine shows it's malformed.
Sorry the births didn't work. Maybe she isn't mature enough?
Did you condition the fish with lots of food beforehand?

although one of my female swordtails had an abortion i had luck...explaining:
i bought a couple of guppies, she gave birth to 20, and then died. From that 20 newborn, 2 survived
being one of them malformed.they are no longer in the breeding box, they are in the community aquarium,
i don´t think the others will eat them.
After that i bought a couple of swordtails, she was already pregnate. it took 1 day after the purchase for
her to give birth to 30 swordtail fries. 20 survived.
after that i bought a second swordtail female, pregnate too; and that was the one who had an abortion.
the female is now with the swordtail couple, and they are all getting along.
now i have a couple of questions to make:
1 - the swordtail fries have between 0.2 and 0.4 inches, how much longer they´ll have to grow so that i may feel
safe to put them on the aquarium without the other fishes eat them? and should i expect more losses?
The water temp is between 28/29 cº . and i feed them correctly.
2 - the first female swordtail when she was pregnant i looked in her belly and the fries seemed me already ready to born,
then i put the female in the breeding box and the delivery was ok.
3 - the second female i looked to her belly to and it seemed that the fries were not formed yet, but i put the female in the breeding box in the same way
and she had an abortion.... so i was right both times. should i trust more in my guts?
4 - i have the ratio 2 females for 1 swordtail male, when will them be pregnate again?
and one last question
5 - i have 2 or 3 fluffy things floating in my aquarium, they are small (about the same size as a fish eye), and they look like those flowers when you blow them they release in the air
a kind of "white hair", what are those? bacteria, harmfull?
once again thanks for your patience

1 - I would wait until roughly 1" to put them in there and depending on tank mates is to the loses.
2 - She was ready, congratulations on the fry.
3 - How much smaller was this one and if you knew she wasn't ready, why did you put her in the breeding box?
4 - I think the pregnancy of swordtails are about a month. You should see the male start breeding them soon.
5 - Got a window open beside the tank?
