They can be tough - I see a pink belly which is usually female. The fish also looks rounder than a male, and it has blue specks in the black spot (not a guaranteed method). All things point to female IMO

That's all the female characteristics then! I'll get a male eventually. Or maybe a pair and move the one that doesn't pair up to my 55?

Putting a male and a female together may or may not result in a pair. A tried and true method for ensuring a well bonded pair is to let them sort it out - get a bunch, let the pair form and then return the rest.

Try to get two males and three females again like jaysee said and you might get a pair. I was lucky my first two paired up. Then when the female passed. I waited and looked for another female and that took two or three months. Now they are trying to breed. So good luck.
