The first two look like Powder Blues (psuedotropheus socolofi).

I think Gladys wanted to know if they were male or female.
Sorry for buttin in if I'm wrong:14: lol
Sorry I can't help either.
I'm new to Cichlids. I just got 9 (3each of 3 different varieties none like the ones you have pictured though) I'm not planning on breeding and since they are small I'm thinking it will be a while before I have to worry about what sex they are. I am glad to see that they have that same spot on their bottom fin like most of mine do. For a while I thought it might be ick.

Good luck, Gladys

wow thanks everybody, your comments have been very helpful, i have another question;- my 2 powder blue cichlids are different colours now (although when i got them they were alot smaller, grown alot! and were the same colour) now one is pale blue with a lilac belly/end the other has bold and striking stripes on the whole of its body, i was told by my lfs (when i asked which are females/males) that females have a more rounded tail, although they all looked the same to me! so he confused me a little and i still have no idea! i think they are all males?

Is it yellow or orange? I just got 2 "red zebra's" yesterday. Mine look orange but in this one pic it looks yellow. I'm new to them too so I don't know the answer to why they call them red either. Here are a couple pics of them. They're pretty young and I don't know if they are male or female.
