Originally I bought a 20g for my wife over a month ago but, she never got back to me. So I thought she was not interested. I started planning the tank for myself. I was going to buy Neon Tetras and Cories( after it was Cycled of course) but, today she came to me with a list and we were able to narrow it down to 3 that went together.

What I need help with is how many of each I can put in a 20g.

20 gallon tall
Aquaclear 30
Eheim 50w
Gravel
Planted- not sure yet if it will be light or heavy.

Long fin Congo Tetras
X-ray Tetras
False Juli cory cats

You might want to get a bigger filter for that tank. Congo tetra get too large and are too active for a 20g. I would get the neons instead. The recommended minimum tank size for false juli cory's is 29gallons, you might want to decide on a smaller species of cory.

I would get, 10-12 neons, 8-10 x-ray tetra, and 8-10 panda cory or pygmy cory or kuhli loaches.

My wife also wanted bleeding heart Tetras but, I though they are to big for a 20g. What about 10 X-ray Tetra and some Bleeding heart Tetras? How many? Any other Cories ok?

You could get 8-10 each of the x-ray and bleeding heart tetras. There are several different species of cory that would work well in a 20g tall. Here is a good place to do some research. http://www.planetcatfish.com/common/quick_find.php You want to find a smaller species because they are very social and active fish you want a good sized group, I would find some that stay under 2 inches.

Bleeding hearts would get to big for a 20g, IMO, ck out Rosy tetras, alot like Bleeding hearts but smaller. This Cory would work for you, Corydoras pygmaeus.

Congos get way too big for a 20 gallon, long or tall.
Fully sized Congos need at least a 75 gallon tank, preferably 100+
I wanted to keep these in my 55 gallon until I saw one at full size myself.

My 20 long has Kerri Blue tetras (7), black neon tetras (9) and panda cories (5, but will be adding 2 more). Panda cories are one of the smaller ones that aren't dwarfs.

I have Cory Habroseus... they are great, you could get a large school of them in with the other fish being discussed

My wife has a list of 10 or so fish not all Tetras. She also likes Platys. How would 3-4 Platys, 6 X-ray Tetras and 6 small Cories? I think I could add 1 or 2 more X-rays. What do you guys think? To little, to much, just right?

You might want to get a bigger filter for that tank.

Agree 100%, I would have at least an AC50 on that tank before adding any more fish...the more filtration you have, the more fish you can support...within reason
