I don't often name my fish but there is this black fin tetra we have had for several years. We figure he has been with us somewhere around 5 years. I have no idea how long these guys live but he was visibly an old fish and has been for some time. The last few weeks he has been "sinking" and today I found him resting on the bottom. I went to net him and he actually swam into the net about half way and lay back down.
Farewell Charlie. We are glad you spent your final days in a newer bigger tank with many friends.

Hmm...Sorry for your lost dude. You said newer bigger tank? Did you just change tanks? Did Charlie start having this symptoms after the transfer?

He certainly got worse after the change but he had been showing signs of decline since at least late spring. Believe it or not I could tell he was not able to compete for food with all the new kids in town and he was visibly thinner the past month. Maybe some day I'll set up a geriatric tank?

Hmmm...it could be due to the sudden change of enviroment and water. But it could also be old age...again, sorry for your lost...

Thanks everyone. It's funny how we can get attached to some little slimey things. :o)
