ok since i got home my male swordtail has ben in the same spot on the bottom of the tank and is breathing really hard...there is nothing visually wrong with him (no visual disease and such)...so i have no idea what to do...i just fed them for the night and he didn't even move to try and get some food.
He is normally really active moving around the tank....please help...thanks.
What do your water tests say? Could be hes stressed from something in the water or by some of the other fish. And how old is he?
One of mine did the same thing..just sat in a corner breathing hard and wouldnt eat for several weeks and when I added more fish he came out and and started eating and was fine...swordtails are kind of weird....

well don't get mad at me but i don't have test kits for my tank...never have but i have never had problems. The reasons i do not get test kits is because i will always think that there is something wron gna diw ill add stuff and then some how (with my luck) i will hurt or kill the fish.
But he died...when i came home from school there were alot of snils on top of him eating him.....so sad..... :(

i think it could have been low oxygen maybe.
i don't think so because i have a filter going into the tank...so that brings oxygen in...i have a HUGE bubbler....and i have live plants in the tank.....but he was the only one doing that.
Im sorry he didnt make it :(
I would watch your other fish very closely for a while though just to make sure it was only your swordtail(not that you probably arent already)

I am also sorry about your fish and sometimes with the best we do for them, they just die.
I just returned my 3 dead gouramis and 3 dead neons to the store last night and got my $29 back. Was going to get some more neons but of course they didn't have any.

Sorry Squirt.
Betta luck next time. One of my dwarf gouramies also just died last week.
He was fine the night before, ate with the other fish and all, then on Thursday morning he was laying in the bottom of the tank.
It happens....................
But still it's not nice.
