Water softener?

so my house has a water softener in it that uses potassium chloride as the salt type. can i use that water in my tank without any risks? or am i going to have to use hard water and heat it up to temp before i can put it in the tank?

I would not use the water that comes from the water softener. You can either heat the water up on the stove or buy another heater and heat it up using that. If you get a higher wattage heater it should heat it up just as fast as a stove would.
