View Full Version : Urgent Help Needed
Hello everyone,
This is my first post, nice looking forum.
I have various loaches and also keep newts. I am trying to breed the newts and have to get them down to 10 C or close as possible to that.
I need to know if the following aquarium cooler will cool 23 C water down to 10 C? It states that it will cool 35 C down to 18 C, but will it go as low as 10 C I wonder?
I am desperate for answers, any guidance is much appreciated, here's the link:

That's a UK brand that we can't get here in the U.S., so I'm sorry I can't help you. Hopefully some of our friends from overseas will be able to help you with this.
Part of me thinks if it can cool 35 to 18, it can make 20 down to 10, but I suppose it depends on how it works.
I think it works the same for American models so even knowledge about american models might help, do american models that work in a similar way go down to 10 C?
cheers
Help!!! Time is running out..

The chiller uses 134A refrigerant. This is for auto systems and will likely not be what you need. I am posting quickly for you and looking for a refrigerant chart. Right now, I would not buy it.

The refrigerant is suitable for lower temperatures but I would still not buy the unit without confirming it's ability to go lower. I referenced a chart and it shows the refrigerant will go to -40F but the issue really is how does this unit control? typically units have some sort of metering device or back pressure regulator to control output temperature. I would not buy this without contacting the manufacturer.
much appreciated rich, i've emailed Boyu, awaiting a reply, thanks again for posting, cheers

also, the larger the area of the aquarium, the harder it is going to be to establish a constant temperature. make sure the cooler can handle and is rated for the size of your tank. same holds true for heaters
I got this reply to my question from the seller:
"Hi there. I have found out for you that the chiller will cool to 10 degrees and lower but you have to make sure it has a good air supply and the room isnt too hot as these factors effect a chillers cooling abilities. In addition to this, there has to be sufficient head hight above the chiller. Aquarium chillers usually go beneath the aquarium. Thanks"
BUt what is meant by underneath the aquarium? I thought it cooled using tubes that went in via the hood? how does it work?
cheers,,

i think he means that you place the chiller underneath of the tank....like do you know how you should place a bubbler thing higher than the tank??? well i think he means that but under the tank.
aaa, ok, i just had the scary thought he meant I would have o lift my tank to put something under it, meaning taking everything out, sounds fine though,,
thanks for the help people
