Hi, I'm new to this and I need some help with my oscars, I've had them sence they were babies...about 4 years now and they just laid eggs for the first time, that I know of, and I'm not sure what I should do or if I should do anything. They just laid them this morning and I've been reading about it, I'm just not sure if I should separate them and if so, when.
Thanks for any input,
gypsy

do u want to raise the eggs if so u need to take the eggs place them in a ten galloon tank when they hatch make sure u dont feed them They cannot eat until they become free swimming.but i think u should not bother because oscars need at lease 55 gallon for a pair of oscars let alone baby oscars.

Leave them be for now. Oscars are very good parents. You might consider starting another tank (barebottom) maybe about 20 gal for a grow out tank though. You'll need to move the fry when they are free swimming. You can also attempt to hatch the eggs yourself in a well filtered cycled aquarium seperate from the parents. Beware though.....Your Oscars will give you hickeys if you try to take their spawn.

Hi, welcome!
laid eggs after 4 years?! why so late! have you changed anything recently?
are they a pair? i mean male and female. did the male fertilize the eggs?
if you don't have any experience on this i suggest let the eggs be with parents this time.

reading related articles on this site is useful. check them out, here (http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/cichlid/breedingoscar.php) and here (http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/breeding/oscar.php).
and this one (http://www.oscarfishlover.com/content/view/20/40/) is a good one.

mine laid eggs for the first time just the other week. checking the topics might help you. ( my oscars fry , my current big oscar )

Yes, I would like a few more so I'd really like to do what I can for them. I appreciate the advise on setting up another tank. The eggs arn't transparent yet so I'm not sure if he's even fertilized them, I guess it's just a wait and see at this point.
