yeah, ive studied a lot of marine life as I took marine biology and biology classes, and I've never seen these guys.....driving me nuts. I have two and they are getting bigger.

they sor tof look like pieces of mold growing....lol....let us know what they are.

maybe poke it and see if it retreats so we know if its a living moving thing or a fungus

You saltwater people get the COOLEST things with your liverock. Very fun to hear the stories. I'll get into it eventually, once I get more successful with these planted tanks, that is.

do you have hermit crabs in the tank? im thinking they may eat whatever it is.

i just looked at my 55g and i have a bunch of those little red and white starfish

EDIT- or maybe bristleworm eggs?

I get them too. I can't find the link, but somewhere I saw that they are a type of sponge.

yep, its a sponge, and theyre harmless and filter well. looks like you have spongebob on your hands (crappy joke i know, lol)

Doesn't look like a sponge to me, looks more like some kind of coral......

My thought is that it was either a sponge, wierd start of an ugly coral or a pest creature.

I bought some of those blue crabs, the super small ones that only get like 1.5cm long, well, they are full grown and have made the tank their domain lol. I have 2 big ones, and two that stayed small.

The white things are starting to grow on the bank of the tank now too.....I just want to make sure they will not harm any creatures swimming by.
