the reef store here is trying to get rid of their damsels for more expensive stock and had them cheap. i ended up picking up one, and hes fairly large. he kinda resembles a zebra, and is a whitish silver with wavy black stripes.
any idea what kind he is? he was just labeled as assorted damsels

Judging by the description, most likely one of these:
Dascyllus reticulatus
Dascyllus melanurus
Dascyllus aruanus
Can be quite aggressive when they get bigger.

so far i have seen 0 aggression, and will soon have plenty of hiding spaces since the tank (55g) will have 75lbs LR. if he gets rowdy i can setup his own tank

i went sam fisher on the tank and managed to snap a pic. its really crappy since he was darting at the back of the tank, and i got the pic just before i did my algae scraping

Cool. However, you may find that once he gets settled, he **may** get more aggressive. When/if he does and you have extra rock in there, it will be impossible to get him out :)

theyre really fast, and plus they get stubborn and are hard to catch. at the LFS he was in a 20g tank with a baby trigger fish and no LR, just sand, and it took 5 minutes to get him

looks like the tang has got some territory. if the damsel goes into the yellow tangs territory the tang chases him off

Looks like a three stripe damsel. I've got a pair in my FOWLR tank and yeah, the tang will have no problem dealing with the little damsel. These guys are quite feisty though especially the males. Females are a little more docile but don't think for one second that they're nice or anything! Do you plan on adding more fish to this tank? You might have a problem with that....
I love damsels! :malelovies:
