Don't you love how these US non-profits love to stick their noses into everyone's business? Let them build their darn dam for goodness sakes. Who stopped us in the 30s, when we built the Hoover Dam? The WWF is such a crappy organization that spoon feeds the world one lie after the next. They don't even know that this dam would disrupt the Giant Catfish's natural behavior...

They even state the following: “It’s likely the Mekong giant catfish use the stretch of river of the Xayaburi dam as a migration corridor, with adult fish likely passing through this area on their migration from floodplain rearing areas to upstream spawning sites,” Hogan said.

“It is also possible the giant catfish spawn in the area where the dam is now located.”

Likely? Possible? Oh... well if it's "likely" or "possible," then I suppose we should disrupt the lives of those in Cambodia, who are trying to improve themselves, and allow the giant catfish to retain a higher status than some human beings.

Sorry... these organizations just bug the heck out of me sometimes.

Who's to say the catfish won't adapt? Who's to say the studies on their numbers aren't incorrect? Perhaps people in that region developed a distaste for the big fish and stopped eating them, so they stopped fishing them in the 1900s.
