Rob thought of naming him Heinz last night (Cause we're Pittsburgh Steelers fans), but they are known for making Ketchup and I didn't want it to seem like a copy of Skarloeys mom's betta Ketchup. lol We're still thinking. I still like the name Flare...but its a no go with Rob. Thanks for that advice though GM...i'll be looking. :)

I have 4 bettas...2 males and 2 females. I don't have good quality pictures of them. My little camera isn't good for closeups.
This is Mr. Plakat I, RIP

This is Mr. Plakat II, doing just fine!

And this is where the other 3 live, the one CT male and the 2 females:

BTW...did you misspell your user name? Should it be Siamese Fighter? And just a heads up...since we're not a chat room, and have a global membership, maybe try not to use chatroom/text shorthand. It makes it hard for people to read. Thanks!

No Bettas for me - I have had bad luck with them (tried twice) and don't feel confident in my ability to keep them well because of it -- I feel so sad when I lose them *tear* ..... I think they are gorgeous though!!!!!!!

Ketchup is beautiful! You can see some purply blue going into the crowntail - georgous - would love to see a side on pic ;)
Kaiser Soze was my fave Betta and I had him for 3 and a half year - he was a Royal Blue Half Moon Betta he was so beautiful with a right character on him - I bred with him a lot but he was a bit rough with the ladies - unfortunately I have no good pictures of him... I still miss him very dearly...
Here is a pic of one of my other males - The King - he doesn't have the prettiest face but he is very very gentle - especially with the ladies so very easy to breed with

Wow, really? A show fish? Hmmm, I know ZERO about breeding bettas though. I might try it if I wasn't starting back to college, already have 3 fish tanks, 2 dogs and one rambuncious son to keep up with! LOL!:hmm3grin2orange:

I have a BRAND new Canon 570I, with image stabilization. It has an "aquarium" adjustment. All my pictures are coming out super-fuzzy. I have tried macro and not. What else can I do? I have also tried the automatic setting. Do I get close to/on the glass? what about zoom?
Thanks~

Try to get your fish to hold still.
Seriously though, are the whole pictures coming out fuzzy or are just the fish coming out blurry? If the whole picture is coming out fuzzy, it sounds like a focus problem. Try pressing the button half way down before taking the picture to see if it tells you where it's focusing. On my Canon, it draws a green square around the focal point. Also, is the glass pretty clean or are there any particles on it that might mess up the focus?
If it's just the fish being blurry, there's not a lot you can do. Macro mode and a tripod work best, but if the fish move, the shot will be blurry. I don't use the aquarium mode when I'm taking pictures of my tank (although I have used it at a large aquarium where I'm further away from the tanks). I always end up taking 20-30 pictures to get a couple of good ones.
Good luck!

Thanks, Bill~ Funny, but the fish does seem to hold still. I am pressing 1/2 way first to focus. Even the LCD image is way fuzzy. And, not just the fish - even like the plant. Maybe it's because it's a plastic mini bow tank. (Made by the All Glass company - go figure...) I think I'll test my old camera against it, because maybe my new camera isn't quite right. My old one was also a Canon - A75 - took great pix. Thanks for your suggestions. ~Lori

Sounds like it just isn't focusing properly since the entire image is blurry. I assume pictures of things other then the aquarium are clear. If so, it's probably having trouble focusing through the glass for some reason. Unless your glass (or plastic in this case) has algae or something on it, it should focus okay.
It's always frustating to have a beautiful tank you can't take a picture of. Hopefully some of the better photographers on the site can come by with some better tips.
