View Full Version : FINALLY - got my percula clowns!
Ta-da! Brought home two baby percula clowns yesterday. They were the last 2 left from their shipment...their fins are a little ratty...guess they were picked on...but they are used to each other and instead of waiting for the next shipment I decided to take these guys...
They're eating well and are healthy!
I also brought home a blue shrimp - Heterpeneus longimanus. It supposedly eats bryopsis...but we'll see...it's not nicely coloured or anything...but is a fairly large shrimp...looks to me like the kind you eat...and it's out more...swimming around...:1luvu:

Congrats Rue!!!!
Thanks!
I spent a good long time cleaning the tank, doing a water change and harvesting macro today...
...after the tank cleared up I fed everyone...the BTA ate too!!! :19: Last time I tried to feed it, it shrank away from the forceps...
...today it grabbed them...:luxlove:

Just out of curiousity, how come you got perc's rather than Ocellaris?
congrats anyways, I love my ocellaris
...*ACK* I thought the peppermint shrimp ate the aiptasia...I haven't seen it for weeks...
...but it just moved to higher ground...:help:

I like the black accents on them...makes them very striking...

Very nice! What's the pink thing with green tips behind the fish (sorry for the newbie question)? It's awesome.

just wondering... whats the difference between a percula and an ocellaris clown?

spudbuds, that is a green hairy mushroom
Thanks guys!
That's a hairy mushroom behind the clowns...very nice and easy-going...looks cute when it's eating (it turns into a totally 'bag')...:malelovies:
Oops! Didn't see the reply...lol..
There are few differences between percs and ocellaris...percs have broader black stripes, some ocellaris have hardly any black...and there's a difference in spine numbers...
But as tank fish, either species is equally good...

looking great Rue!
Thanks! The SW tank is very engaging...I target feed the corals with Coral Frenzy and Cyclopeeze twice a week...and I feed mysis and pink shrimp to whoever likes to eat shrimp...
The peppermint shrimp comes out of hiding and attack my forceps...the anemone shrank away from the forceps the first couple of attempts to feed it, but now it also 'attacks' them for the shrimp...thumbs2:
Even the orange-spotted snails are cool...they all 'rise from the depths' of the substrate when they smell food...
And I have a couple of mini-limpits on an empty snail shell that are also very entertaining to watch...voracious feeders...
