I wasn't here yesterday from early morning on due to tearing everything apart.
I had my parrots in the planted 55 gallon which did not work. They riped all the stem plants, dug a huge hole in the middle of the tank and uprooted all my stem plants. I tore this tank apart literally......removed 6 quarts TOO MUCH of substrate I had in the tank, pulled up most of the plants, did 2 complete water changes and started over.
I also redid the other 55 gallon tank to move the parrots in with the silver dollars. And they are doing jolly good now with the Dollars. They even like the featherfin in that tank and they share their cave. How odd when they hated the other featherfin in the planted tank!
That left me with an empty 55 gallon planted (kinda) tank so I moved the firemouth in there. Now I must find some friends for him and certainly hope I don't get into aggression issues.
I also set the tank that leaked up and it's just sitting there now waiting on another filter as I hold my breath for leaks. I am scared to plant it. A leaking tank is bad enough but a planted, leaking tank is worse.
I also redid the tetra tank. So, in all, I totally redid 4 tanks yesterday.
The firemouth is very calm now and out and about all the time. I had the feeling that the Silver Dollars flying around in a panic was upsetting him and I found this to be true.
Now if I could find some nice tall background plants for this planted tank, I would be a happy camper.
