OK, could someone perhaps fill me in on a couple of details please?

Metal Halide bulbs that screw into normal incandescent bulb sockets?

That can't be right, can it? If so ..... :18:

ALL HID bulbs require a ballast and a starter unit but they CAN be bought to screw into normal bulb bases. They are called self ballasted but, I can't find any atm.

You do, the self ballasted bulbs are uaully low wattage and have a small ballast very similar to CF lights.

Is that a standard socket bulb? I didn't see anythign that said it was. The ones I have seen look like it, but are actually much larger.

I took a trip to a LFS today, and they just got some in this week, unfortunatly, my bubble burst as the socket is much bigger than a standard socket. Basically, they screw into a special ballast that you can buy seperately.

Sorry to get everyone's hopes up ... :22:

More or less, that's what it looks like. I think I actually started to cry when I realized it wasn't what I was hoping it to be ... lol!
